Bridges and Tunnels

Bridges and Tunnels

"Bridges and Tunnels" is a ‘lyrical’ meditation on growth, resilience, and the transformative journey through life's trials. It traces the path between past and future, illuminating how both uplifting and hostile connections shape our course. Bridges symbolize the reflective spaces where we acknowledge what was, and what could be. Bridges represent the scenic route by which we traverse different periods and places in this expedition we call life. Tunnels, however, represent the difficult, shadowed passages we endure to reach healing and hope. The route isn’t scenic; it’s dark and obscured. Tunnels protect us from the torrential downpour we would otherwise endure as we push through—rarely do we stop and turn back. “Bridges and Tunnels” encourages forward motion, leaving behind pain without forgetting its role in the journey. Stay focused, fearless, and faithful to the promise of what lies ahead.

"Still, don’t neglect Those who have guided your path The deterrences Naysayers Cosigners The drab."

Kenneth Dane

Man staring through an old tunnel, at a broken bridge

The scenic route

A byway, in a sense

Bridging what was—could have been,

Was lost,

And what’s meant

Providing you an avenue

To view all you have left

On your way from the things you’ve shed

Towards what you’re to get

Still, don’t neglect

Those who have guided your path

The deterrences

Naysayers

Cosigners

The drab

Inspirators who shone light

On the darkest of tasks

Conspirators who locked hands in an effort to drag

You…

Below…

To the lowest of depths

They wanted to smother you

Introduce you to death

In those instances when you had nothing

Not a single breath left

Suddenly, an ember shown dimly

A medium to egress

A tunnel to traverse

An exit tube, more or less

A way to debouch

The abyss and the dread

Keep your vision focused;

Narrow

Ignoring pain and despair

Move quickly

Move quietly

Move with purpose

Remove fear

Don’t

Look

Back

The exodus is quite near

Objects in your rearview are closer than they appear

Don’t be distracted

By the wake in your path

Beauty awaits you

On the other side of this “torment”

Just stick to the track
