I had a setback the other day
Nothing major
Or minor
A setback, nonetheless
I had plans. Big plans
I had contingencies for all the hurdles I could foresee
Then my plan went to shit,
The setback was me
Let me explain…
I didn’t cause it—I checked.
Triple checked and crossed my T’s
I sat back, folded my arms and smiled
This was going to be a breeze
Then, the unthinkable happened
The unimaginable
The impossible…
Life didn’t go as I had planned it!
Can you believe???
Right!?
Mmhmm. Yeah, I know!!
When you do everything right, it should always work… just so.
I was the setback, because you and I both know
That’s not how life works. That’s never how things go.
I gave myself a day… or two, I suppose.
And now I’m back,
On this journey
Ready for what life throws.
